R v M – Charges dropped

This was a particularly difficult case. The client, a student, had walked through an international airport’s security area with a lock knife. He had been detained in the security area before boarding a flight, when the knife was found in his rucksack. He denied all knowledge of the knife, but the prosecution listed the matter for trial. Significant disclosure requests were made by Harewood Law based on what happened in the security area and how the knife came to be in the rucksack. It was clear that the prosecution had failed to obtain specific aspects of the evidence. Days before the trial, the prosecution were persuaded due to a lack of disclosure to drop all charges. The student was a man of good character.
